The concept of the defence of the country is based on the regulations of the Spanish Constitution and binds the society as a whole in ensuring the sovereignty and the national interests.
The defence of the country does not only concern the armed forces and the military organisation. It is an integral concept concerning all parts of the state: the citizens as well as individual persons, the structured society across all constitutive elements and the public authorities.

El concepto de defensa nacional se fundamenta en el ordenamiento constitucional español y vincula a toda la sociedad en la salvaguarda de la soberanía e intereses nacionales.
La defensa nacional no afecta sólo a las Fuerzas Armadas y a la organización militar. Es un concepto integrador que concierne a todos los componentes del Estado: a los ciudadanos en tanto que individuos, a la sociedad articulada a través de todos sus elementos constitutivos, y a los poderes públicos.
